Healmed founder Dr. Goel experienced firsthand the struggles that Mental Health Care Providers face in providing cares to customers. These challenges include an extreme shortage of staff, excessive wait time for consumers to get an appointment, huge wait time in the ED to see a Behaviour Health Specialist even in the urgent/emergent situations. Adding to the HCP burden is the excessive time spent charting electronic health records and, paperwork to prevent medico-legal liabilities leading to delays in the provision of care, and less time spent evaluating patients due to the excessive caseload. The combination of these challenges is causing burnout for many psychiatrists.
